Victor Anthony Fernandez Obituary

Victor A. “BT” Fernandez of Carver passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 21st, 2024, after a lengthy illness with COPD. He was diagnosed with COPD on May 3rd, 2011, and from that day forward he fought to live every day to the fullest. He was born in Carver, Mass. to Manuel and Annabelle (Doleman) Fernandez, on February 29th, 1932. Victor was known to everyone as “BT” and he was well respected by all who knew him.

In his earlier years he rented a space in Roxbury, Mass., which he ran a bar out of up until his brother Larry (who passed away on March 11th, 2023) asked him to come work with him in the construction field. He wore many hats in the construction field, but he loved driving his truck the most. His work ethic was unmatched; he went to work every day and even on his worst days. After work he always made sure to stop at his favorite bar Packy’s to play Gin with his friends. BT was such a jokester, and you never knew if he was telling the truth or not. At times when you called him, he would talk for a few minutes and then say ok I am away on vacation or I am at the doctor’s office, but he would be right in the house sitting in his recliner watching T.V. That was just his way of getting off the phone with you. He loved & hated New England sports teams and would not give them a chance if the team was losing in the first thirty minutes of the game. He would say, “That’s it I’m done; and change the channel.”

BT loved spending quality time with his family and going on family vacations. He always put his family first and he would go without just to make sure his kids had what they needed. He loved hanging with his brother Larry, especially their Friday afternoon drives to Lobster Pot in East Wareham. They also enjoyed taking road trips along the East Coast to visit family. He loved riding four-wheelers with his son. He enjoyed attending his grandson’s games on the weekends. When he finally hung up his construction boots for good, his days were dedicated to hanging with his wife Brenda & their youngest daughter, where they always made several stops to Dunkin’ while checking out every thrift store or mall in Mass.

BT is survived by his wife Brenda of 52 years and their loving children; Bernadette, Darcy, Victor, Eva Greer & Elizabeth. Their grandchildren; Kevin, Graham, Charles III, Gabriel, Liam, and Joseph.

BT is also survived by his children from previous relationships, Gary, Victoria G., Victor F., Michelle, Victoria G., Robin, Donna, Valerie, Dionne, Sharon, Victor F., Ralph, Peter, Vicki F., and countless grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, BT was predeceased by his sons, Robert High and Victor Perry. His siblings; Ralph Fernandez, Lawrence Fernandez, Oliver Fernandez, Mary Nicholas, Irene Brito, Dorothy Southern, Eva Scott and Juanita Baldwin.

BT was a great Husband, Father & Grandfather. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends. But like he always said; “Don’t call me, I’ll call you” or “Bite the bullet & Go forward.”

Ps. Daddy, we hope you get to eat all the chocolate chip cookies you want in heaven. We will take care of mommy like you always asked us to if anything ever happened to you. We LOVE you and miss you already.
