Yolanda Renée Leatherwood, 40, of Chelsea died unexpectedly on June 18th, 2021. Her loss is a tragedy and the family is deeply saddened.
Yolanda was born on March 1st, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts to Pamela Leatherwood and the late Glenn Coleman.
She is survived by her daughter Imani Lee Williams, mother Pamela Leatherwood and five siblings: Nathaniel Starling, Damian Leatherwood, Tamala Hairston, Sherroll Leatherwood and Javari Leatherwood, her grandparents Georgia and Jimmy Coleman and her significant other Valery D’Laurent, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Growing up in Marshfield, Yolanda was raised by her beloved grandparents. Yolanda attended Marshfield Elementary, which she later transitioned to the Lewenberg for middle school. She attended North Quincy High School where she obtained her GED and soon after found her passion in Cosmetology. After finishing up her beauty school at LaBaron Hairdressing Academy, she received her cosmetology license. She enjoyed hobbies like knitting, painting, gardening and spending time with her family.
Yolanda wasn’t always easy to deal with, her personality set in stone would set you a blaze, she loved attention and making sure she was the center of it. Yolanda was the highlight of every family gathering, whether conversing or dancing to every song. Yolanda was loving, strong willed, outspoken and unafraid of others’ opinions. She voiced her piece when she felt it was necessary and spoke up for those who she cared for even if it meant hurting your feelings. She believed in being heard by all and enjoyed unity and being around people, found a way to keep everybody together.
The pain that comes with her passing is wounding and one we wouldn’t wish on any other. Yolanda will be greatly missed until the day we meet again. May her soul rest peacefully in the kingdom of heaven.
